Tiffany Haddish, They Ready

You already know She Readyyyyy, but now They Ready too. This series is everything we want The Yes List to be about; it celebrates amazing success, lifts women up, focuses on sisterhood and it’s full of queens.

First off, let’s take a moment for this suit. There's a rumour that Beyoncé gave Tiffany Haddish this very suit. And we stan queens supporting other queens! Even if it didn’t come from Queen B, this is a power suit. This is a suit that demands respect. I love it.

Tiffany Haddish

Tiffany says ‘as a stand up comedian and a female it is very difficult to get a little shine.’

In her early days, Tiffany was broke and homeless, sleeping in her car while grinding it out on comedy stages around LA. While she was coming up, she made a pact with her friends, her talented, hardworking and fucking funny friends. That she was going to make it and when she did she would come back and bring them up with her.

Tiffany explained on The Today Show,

“I had my deal already to do my special and they offered me a little more money, right? I was like, ‘How about instead of giving me that money, we use that money to give six other comedians an opportunity to shine?’”

In the series she spotlights six hand-picked comedians including Chaunté Wayans, April Macie, Tracey Ashley, Aida Rodriguez, Flame Monroe and Marlo Williams.

Every episode is worth a watch and at just 20 mins long each they’re the perfect excuse for a little Netflix and chill.

My favourite though has to be Flame Monroe. Fierce, funny and fabulous Flame Monroe has been doing stand-up for 20 years and wants us to know that she's not a transgender comedian - she's "a comedian who just so happens to be transgender." Her set covers everything from TSA pat downs to parenthood.

Like I say, for me one of the best parts of the show is the introductions where we get to know more about who the comedians are and how they first formed their friendships. Of the host, Flame says:

“Tiffany didn’t see my tits or my ass or my smile, Tiffany saw me. Tiffany told me I’m gonna make it and I’m gonna come back and get you and I’ve heard that from so many other people, guess what Tiffany did? Tiffany came back and got a bitch”

We can all try to be a little more, Tiffany. How are you lifting your friends up today?
