Bobo Matjila and Lillian Ahenkan, Bobo + Flex

What do you get when you mix the most colourful and charismatic Aussie with your favourite philosopher and New Yorker? It’s the podcast you deserve.

We are your two favourite (and sometimes problematic) aunties, bringing you the world’s first cross-continental podcast. We’re on a quest to decolonize our minds, intersect our feminism, but most importantly, give you all the tools necessary to stay away from problematic boys!

Two long distance friends, Bobo and Flex, record weekly episodes of this cross continental podcast. The series covers a broad range of topics from careers planning to feminism and sex. This one is guaranteed to get you thinking and brighten up even the greyest of days.

On the topic of friendship, episodes range from “how your friends impact your success”, “how to break up with a friend”, “friendship + social media // are you a trash friend?”. In each of these episodes they tackle necessary conversations - the ones we should all be having and we’re not - what it means to be a good friend in 2020. If like us you’re trying to be better at managing your relationships in a way that works for you as a grown woman - we can’t recommend these enough.

Give the podcast a listen and won’t take long for you to hear what strong women Bobo and Flex both are. In a recent ep Flex gave us a little insight into how this strength was built:

We come from a matriarchy, so my mother was always aware of her worth as a woman. There are no male figures in my lineage where I’m like, ‘Oh, you run this shit.’ No. It’s my grandma, my auntie, my mum. They run this shit. Everyone’s afraid of them, they’ll fuck you up,” she laughed. “Where are the men? I don’t know where they are... I always attributed really dominant characteristics to women because that’s just what I knew.

Last year Bobo ditched her fashion and modeling Instagram account with over 100k followers to start fresh and refocus on sending the right message to women. In the podcast Bobo hosts deeply philosophical conversations that are applicable to everyday life - listen to her and your life will be richer for it.

Their consistent, open conversations together and active pursuit of answers to the big questions allows them to live a purposeful life and achieve the gold standard in Shine Theory. It’s so refreshing to tune into their conversation every week and reflect on how to curate the life you want whether that’s through the relationship you put your energy into or analysing your own ideologies.

On top of the podcast, there’s an active Facebook group you can join the conversation with too. the second group you’ll on joining is “Make Friends! Making friends as an adult is hard. Put yourself out there, don't be shy! The Bobo&Flex family are the world's smartest, cutest, most compelling humans + aliens. This is ur new tribe - IRL and offline” .
